SKF Sets The Reliability Benchmark

Installed in the late 1980s as part of TransCanada’s oil-free compressor initiative, the SKF S2M Magnetic Bearings have lasted a quarter century and are still going strong. The bearings, which were installed at the Wolf Lake compressor station in Alberta, Canada, offer superior reliability and minimal servicing and maintenance requirements. In addition, the magnetic bearing technology holds numerous other advantages over regular bearings, including the elimination of fire hazards associated with oil-auxiliary systems and the costs involved in the disposing of oil.
